Gallery Place Task Force Vision Plan

What role do arts, culture, sports, and creative placemaking play in the rebound of Downtown DC?

Catalyzed by a visioning workshop between stakeholders and leading designers from across the country, the Gallery Place Vision Plan articulates “8 Big Ideas” to reset the heart of Downtown DC.   Key goals: convert underutilized, “vacant-to-vibrant” spaces into high-density residential and retail, enhance walkability, and establish a “cultural district” with improved safety and cleanliness. Rapid coordination and consultation on behalf of the public-private partnership established by Mayor Bowser brought together agency representatives, neighborhood stakeholders, real estate developers, civic and cultural organizations, and myriad local and federal stakeholders.

Services included stakeholder engagement, workshop design and facilitation, planning, and design management.  Client: Gehl, Gallery Place Task Force & District of Columbia, Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development, 2024. Key collaborators included Field Operations, SHoP Architects, WXY Studio, Site Lab Urban Studio, and Perkins Eastman Architects.
