Can Mies van der Rohe’s MLK Jr. Memorial Library be a premier cultural destination supporting the revitalization of DC’s Downtown?
An architectural element intentionally designed by Mies van der Rohe to transition from the space of the city to the space of books, the DC Central Library’s Loggia is now a place of refuge, creating systemic public health and safety challenges. The Loggia Project creates a new form of governance which respects the dignity of all individuals and seeks to imagine an active, clean, and safe public space. The Loggia Project welcomes the public, supports DCPL’s mission, improves safety, and innovates new uses on the road to becoming a premiere destination for visitors from near and far.
